Jatiya Party Chairman former President H. M. Ershad said, 'We are preparing for the elections by March next year. Our target is to get 151 seats. The people of the country want to be freed from both parties. We want to do well in the next election.' He said these things while talking to reporters at his residence Pallinibas in Rangpur on Saturday morning.
Ershad also said, 'The condition of the country is not good, the people are not good either. Terrorism corruption and partisanship engulfed the country. On the contrary, the people need a national party now. We will organize the party. We want to organize the party together with everyone in Rangpur. We want to hold elections with everyone.' He said, 'BNP does not have any strong movement. They are just wasting time by talking. People have no confidence in BNP.'
It should be noted that there is a dispute in Greater Rangpur due to various divisions of the Jatiya Party. Due to Ershad's arrival, two groups clashed in front of Ershad's house a few days ago. LGRED State Minister Masiur Rahman Ranga's supported group is always involved in disputes with other groups. Especially after LGRED State Minister Mosiur Rahman Ranga was relieved from the presidium post on September 10, Rangpur District and Metropolitan Committees were abolished and a new convening committee was formed. State Minister Mosiur Rahman Ranga was also the president of that district and metropolitan committee. Since then various unpleasant incidents have been happening in Rangpur including clashes between both parties.
