Pass number 33 to 40!

The Dhaka Times Desk A radical change is coming in the education sector. As part of this change, the current number of passes is being increased from 33 to 40.

On the one hand, those who obtained GPA-5 in the secondary and higher secondary examinations are becoming scattered, on the other hand, the number of people failing the entrance examination of public universities is increasing. That is why many questions are being raised about the quality of education. Recently, the education minister expressed his displeasure that the selection process of the universities was flawed.

The Ministry of Education is going to decide to increase the pass marks in public examinations before the debate ends. Presently the pass marks out of 100 in a subject are 33. It is heard that this pass number may be increased to 40. However, the Ministry of Education has not clarified the matter yet. Education Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan gave this information while talking to reporters at the secretariat last Thursday. However, he assured that the decision to increase the pass marks in the public examination will be taken only after the opinion of all concerned.

In this context, the Education Secretary also said, 'The education system of the country has improved more than before. Now 98 percent are getting admission in school. The pass rate has also increased a lot, the rate of good results is also increasing gradually. And so we also need to raise the standard.'

Education Secretary said, 'Pass number 33 is not in any country in the world. The seminar will be organized with all the education family. Only then will the pass number be increased gradually with everyone's opinion there.'

Meanwhile, after this speech of the education secretary, various discussions have started on this issue across the country. Many people are saying, 'It makes no sense to increase the number of pass marks and make another scandal like the one that happened recently with university admission.'
