ICC and BCB also object to reducing Ashraful's punishment!

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has objected to the reduction of Ashraful's punishment for spot-fixing. It is known from media sources that apart from ICC, Bangladesh Cricket Board BCB has also raised the same objection. Bangladesh Cricket Board BCB Chief Executive Officer Nizam Uddin Chowdhury Sujan confirmed this to the media on Tuesday.

It should be noted that Mohammad Ashraful's sentence in the BPL spot and match fixing case was reduced from 8 years to 3 years to 5 years on September 29. Bangladesh Cricket Board BCB constituted tribunal gave this verdict in view of Ashraful's appeal.

In this regard, a BCB official told the media, 'Aksu has raised objections about reducing Ashraful's punishment. However, it can be confirmed within 2/1 days when to appeal against the reduction of sentence.

On June 18, the tribunal formed by the BCB sentenced Ashraful to an eight-year ban and a fine of Tk 10 lakh, which came into effect on July 7 last year. Ashraful appealed to reduce the sentence within 22 days as per the rules after the verdict was announced. Due to which the tribunal reduced Ashraful's sentence to 3 years on September 29. According to the verdict, Ashraful will be banned for 5 years, which will be effective from August 13 last year. Accordingly, Ashraful will be able to return to the game from August 13, 2016. However, Ashraful's fine of Tk 10 lakh is upheld.
