The Dhaka Times Desk In our country it becomes difficult to find water vessels such as launches when they sink. A device called 'Location Detector' was invented. With this device sunken vessels can be easily identified.
From actual experience we have seen that the launch is no longer found after the watercraft especially launch sinking. Due to the strong current in the river, our country's instruments cannot track where the sunken launch goes. A recently sunken launch at Mawa Ghat in Munshiganj has not been found till date.
A situation has recently been discovered that can identify a sunken launch. This device is named, 'Location Detector'.
Basically 2 vibration generating devices will be installed in the front and rear of the vessel. These devices will be powered by waterproof synthetic power cells. The devices will continue to vibrate progressively from the sunken vessel for the next 7 days. Meanwhile, the rescue workers can identify the location of the vessel very easily by detecting the vibration caused by the vibrator from the surface of the water with the help of the hydrosonar machine. It is said that this device is capable of working in estuaries or any hostile environment.
The inventor of this device is agronomist Farooq bin Hossain Yamin. 'Location Detector' has another quality. The device can detect the position of submerged vessels in shallow or deep water and also predict the weather on the vessel, according to the inventor Farooq bin Hossain Yamin.
Inventor Farooq bin Hossain Yamin told the media that the device made of aluminum and cork suitable for floating will be attached to the mast of the vessel. And a 60-70 feet long copper wire will be connected to it. The device will contain an electric chip capable of receiving and sending messages.
The 'location detector' device will float immediately after the vessel sinks. And immediately the device will continue to give signal with sound. A nearby vehicle can see it and come forward for rescue work. Again this 'location detector' will have the chip of any mobile operator. It will also provide weather forecast to the vessel afloat. It will also help locate the vessel and protect the vessel from head-on collisions. It is said that the entire device will run on battery. Also, small solar panels will be installed to send the signal if the battery fails due to any reason. The device will be coated in radium to detect when the light used in the signal breaks down.
The 'Location Detector' device will be accompanied by another device called the very important Load Detector. It shall be fitted to the outer part of one side of the vessel. This device will be cabled to a large monitor at the entrance to the vessel. The device will also signal passengers about the vehicle's water level and passenger capacity. Passengers can see this information from the monitor. Passengers will be able to decide to board the vessel by seeing the green, yellow and red light signals.
Its inventor Farooq bin Hossain Yamin said that if the sponsorship of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) is available then it is possible to use this device. As there are many complaints of carrying excess passengers in our country. Moreover, there is also the problem of identifying the vessel when it sinks. So the people concerned think that this indigenous technology should be used.
