The Dhaka Times Desk Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh has demanded Islamabad's action against Jamaat-e-Bangladesh following the execution order of Amir Matiur Rahman Nizami.
Reacting angrily to the execution of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh's Amir Matiur Rahman Nizami for crimes against humanity in 1971, Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan has sought Islamabad's action against Bangladesh.
Reacting to last Wednesday's verdict by the International Criminal Tribunal, Pakistan Jamaat said in a statement that "a completely innocent man has been sentenced to death by a so-called court verdict."
The statement given by Amir Siraj-ul Haque and Secretary General Liaquat Baloch of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan was published on the website of Pakistan Jamaat.
In 1971, Nizami was the head of the Al Badr Force, which worked on behalf of the Pakistani army to kill Bangladeshi intellectuals. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Matiur Rahman Nizami, who was found guilty of 8 crimes including intellectual murder, was sentenced to death by the court.
In a statement criticizing the inaction of his country's Pakistan government over the verdict in Bangladesh, Siraj-ul-Haq added, "When a patriotic Pakistani, who is facing such a sentence for cooperating with the Pakistan Army, the inaction of the Pakistan government is truly unexpected."
Pakistan Jamaat-e-Islami has also targeted the current government of Sheikh Hasina for taking the initiative to prosecute the 1971 war crimes in Bangladesh. "Prime Minister Hasina Wazed will not be able to stay in power for long because of such activities." Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan has threatened.
It should be noted that Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan strongly criticized Bangladesh even after the death of Ghulam Azam, the former emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh who was imprisoned for 90 years.
