5 militants arrested including the chief coordinator of JMB: The militant organizations are rising again

The Dhaka Times Desk RAB arrested 5 militants including the chief coordinator of JMB. Militant organizations are rising again in different parts of the country.

It has been reported that RAB has arrested 5 militants including Abdun Noor, chief coordinator of banned militant organization Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). Colonel Ziaul Ahsan, Additional Director General of RAB told this information to the media on Friday afternoon.

On Thursday midnight, a team of RAB arrested them from Shahid Mansoor Ali railway station in Sirajganj along with time bomb making equipment. Others arrested are Ehsa member Noor Islam, Md Nuruzzaman Arif (Ehsaar), Ehsa member Farooq Ahmed and Md Abul Kalam Azad. Four time bombs and bomb-making equipment were recovered from five JMB members. Abdun Noor and others were in touch with the 2 JMB members involved in the recent Burdwan blasts.

It is said in the news media that JMB Amir Abdun Noor of Pabna district started to organize the party again under the instructions of Sohail Mahfuz, the amir of a part of JMB in India. This JMB leader was in secret contact with the jailed top militants.

RAB Additional Director General Colonel Ziaul Ahsan told the media that JMB wants to turn around anew. Their activities are being closely monitored. The financial sources of JMB are also being investigated.

In a press conference yesterday afternoon at RAB headquarters in Uttarastha, Commander Mufti Mahmud, director of RAB's law and media wing, said that Abdun Noor was in contact with Amir Sohail Mahfuz of JMB who was in hiding in Bangladesh. JMB is trying to recruit new members to reorganize. For this purpose, this Abdun Noor was also in contact with the jailed JMB top leaders and other JMB active members hiding outside the country.

It is known that fugitive and bailed members of banned militant organizations are trying to reorganize by taking advantage of the political unrest in the country. Since the top leaders of these organizations are in jail, they do this very secretly. Basically, they are trying to revive the organization by coordinating with the top leaders of the party who are in jail and other members who are in hiding. Taking advantage of any political unrest in the country, they were planning to detonate bombs.

49 primary detonators, 26 electronic detonators, 4 time bombs, 10 kg of power gel, 155 different types of circuits, 45 button type circuits, 3 igniters, 1 power regulator and 55 Jihadi books were recovered from the arrested persons. Among them were several high-powered bombs and bomb-making equipment.
