The Dhaka Times Desk The master's body was recovered on Sunday morning after 5 days of tanker sinking incident in Shyala river of Sundarbans.
In the early morning hours of December 9, a vessel named MV Total collided with the oil tanker MV OT Southern Star Seven due to heavy fog. The impact caused the bottom of the oil tanker MV OT Southern Star Seven to burst. Then the ship sank. The master of that tanker was missing since that day. The body of Master Moklechur Rahman was recovered floating in the Shyala river at around 7 am on Sunday, 5 days after he drowned in the Shyala river of Sundarbans. OC Belayet Hossain of Mongla police station confirmed the news to the media that the police recovered the body based on the information of the fishermen.
Due to thick fog, the tanker MV Total broke the bottom of the oil carrier MV OT Southern Star Seven and sank slowly. 3 lakh 57 thousand 664 liters of oil in that tanker spilled into the water. Meanwhile, the locals have been removing this oil for several days. Because a natural disaster is about to happen because of this oil. Because that oil is also spreading from Shyala River to Pasur River in Sundarbans. Due to which the experts believe that the natural environment of Sundarbans can be greatly affected.
