The hartal called by 20 parties led by BNP has started. So far no major untoward incident has been reported in the news from across the country. However, on the night before the hartal, there have been attacks in several places in the capital since Sunday evening. A woman with two children was burnt in a petrol bomb in Kazipara.
It is known that yesterday Sunday around 7:30 pm some miscreants hurled petrol bombs at a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw and escaped. Three passengers of that CNG were injured. Burned woman along with two children were sent to hospital.
Another incident happened in the evening in Paltan of the capital. A bus was set on fire and cocktails exploded by miscreants. At that time panic spread in that area. However, no one was injured in this incident.
It is to be noted that BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was not allowed to hold a rally in Gazipur and the 20-party alliance led by BNP called a nationwide strike on Monday to protest the arrest of political leaders and activists including Gayeshwar Chandra Roy.
