5 killed including children in petrol bomb on bus in Rangpur: 10 burnt

The Dhaka Times Desk 5 people including children were killed and 10 burnt in Rangpur by petrol bomb on bus. This horrific incident took place on Tuesday around 1:30 am.

The late night incident took place in Batasan area of Rangpur-Dhaka highway in Mithapukur upazila headquarters of Rangpur. Miscreants set fire to a Dhaka-bound passenger bus at night. At that time, 4 people including a child were killed on the spot and 1 later. 10 more people were burnt in that incident. 11 burnt people were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital and one died under treatment. Doctors on duty said that the condition of two others is critical. Meanwhile, the police arrested 8 Jamaat-Shibir workers from Mithapukur on suspicion of involvement in this incident.

According to the police, on Tuesday around 1.30 am, the passenger bus named Khalil Pariwan from Ulipur of Kurigram district was going from Ulipur to Dhaka when it reached Batasan area of Rangpur's Mithapukur Upazila Sadar when petrol bombs were thrown at the bus. The bus immediately caught fire.
