Teachers are being trained in firearms in Peshawar, Pakistan!

The Dhaka Times Desk After the Taliban massacre at a school in Peshawar, Pakistan, teachers are being given firearms training. The objective is to stand against the terrorists.

Firearms & teachers

No one has yet forgotten the Taliban massacre of schools in Peshawar, Pakistan. 132 freshmen lost their lives in an attack on a military-run school. That wound has been scarred in the minds of the people of the world, even Pakistan. The government of Pakistan has taken several steps to prevent such attacks in future. And part of this step is the weapons training of teachers in Peshawar. So that they can stand against the terrorists.

As part of this programme, teachers of all schools, colleges and universities in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa state of Peshawar are being trained in weapons. Soon these teachers will be seen with weapons in the classroom. The reason is that the Pakistani government has already allowed weapons to be carried in classrooms.

State Education Minister KP told the media, 'It is not mandatory for every teacher to carry firearms in the classroom, but those who want can carry weapons.'

State Information Minister Mushtaq Gani said in this regard, 'Government will not be able to provide security in all government educational institutions in the current situation. And so such steps have been taken.'

He also said, 'We don't have enough police for the security of 35,000 schools, colleges and universities. That is why teachers are allowed to carry firearms.'

But Malik Khalid Khan, president of the Private School Teachers Association, strongly criticized the government's decision. He asked the question, 'How is it possible to teach students with a pen in one hand and a weapon in the other?

Malik Khalid Khan also said, 'It is not our job to hold weapons - our job is to teach books. Having weapons in the hands of teachers will have a negative effect on the minds of students.'
