An Egyptian court has banned the armed wing of Hamas

The Dhaka Times Desk An Egyptian court has banned the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian political organization Hamas.

An Egyptian court has declared the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian political organization Hamas, a terrorist organization, media reported. A special court in Cairo gave the verdict on Saturday. The court also directed the government to list the organization as a terrorist along with sanctions. The country's court made the ruling shortly after several soldiers were killed in a series of attacks by Islamist rebels in Egypt's northern Sinai Valley last Friday.

According to the media, this hearing was held on the armed wing of Hamas, the Qassam Brigade, in a special court in Cairo, Egypt, for the quick disposal of the case. Judge Mohammed Al Said directed the Egyptian government to list the Qassam Brigades as a terrorist organization. The Qassam Brigade has been accused of assisting the Muslim Brotherhood in various acts of sabotage. In October 2014, 33 Egyptian security personnel were killed by the Brotherhood in Sinai, Egypt. It is said that the Qassam Brigade of Hamas helped the Brotherhood in that incident.

It should be noted that earlier an Egyptian court declared the country's Islamist organization 'Muslim Brotherhood' as a terrorist organization.
