A bunch of stars from Tollygunge came to Dhaka on Thursday as the tour companions of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. A part of these stars met in a discussion meeting with Bangladeshi film directors, artists and crew at BFDC on February 21. It is said that several issues including Dhaka-Kolkata film exchange were discussed in the discussion.
It is known that a proposal for exchanging movies between Dhaka and Kolkata came from the artists of Kolkata. In view of this, it has been informed from the side of Bangladesh, 'Since the films of Bangladesh have not yet been fully digitalized technically, as the matter is in a process, the exchange of films is not possible now.'
But currently Dhaka-Kolkata will exchange two movies a year on an experimental basis. And a monitoring committee headed by Harunur Rashid, Managing Director of BFDC will work in this regard. However, the movie will be produced jointly in both countries. They also agreed to organize two film festivals in two Bengals every year.
On behalf of Bangladesh, directors' association president Delwar Jahan Jhantu, vice-president Sohanur Rahman Sohan, director's association general secretary Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, artists' association general editor Amit Hasan, actor Zayed Khan and many people related to Bangladeshi films were present on behalf of Bangladesh. MD Haroon Or Rashid of BFDC was also present at the time. On the other hand, Prosenjit, filmmaker Gautam Ghosh and many others were present in Kolkata.
Actors Prasenjit, Dev, Munmun Sen, director Gautam Ghosh, musician Kabir Suman, Nachiketa and producer Srikant Mohta were in the Indian delegation that came to Bangladesh as Mamata Banerjee's travel companion.
