The Dhaka Times Desk South Africa made history today in the first quarter-final of World Cup cricket and went to the semi-finals.
Despite many challenges, South Africa reached the semi-finals of the World Cup with a record. South Africa snatched the desired victory by crushing Sri Lanka by just 133 runs.
The Proteas were able to win the first quarter-final very easily, that too by 9 wickets, crushing Sri Lanka for just 133 runs on the offspin of JP Duminy, who took his second hat-trick in this World Cup.
Note that this is South Africans' first win in a knock-out match in the World Cup. De Villiers' team thus created a history in this match today (Wednesday). South Africa will face the winner of the New Zealand-West Indies match in the first semi-final on March 24 in Auckland. Time will tell what will happen.
