Army spokesman Colonel Tuku Gusau said in an emailed statement that the 178 hostages included 101 children, 67 women and 10 men.
The spokesperson also told the media that a Boko Haram commander was also arrested in the army operation. In this operation, several militant camps around Bama suburb were destroyed.
