Breaking: 'SIM off if not registered by December 13'

The Dhaka Times Desk SIM re-registration is starting from next Sunday. And if the registration is not done by December 13, the SIM will be closed, said the State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications, Tarana Halim.

It has been said that SIM re-registration is starting from next Sunday with the opportunity to verify properly registered mobile SIM. It will run for three months.

State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim said that those who are already registering their SIMs correctly, their SIMs should also be verified in this process. Those whose SIMs are found to be incorrectly registered after this verification must be re-registered.

Note that most of the operators are not completing the SIM registration process properly. There are also allegations that in many cases the responsibility of selling unregistered SIMs is passed on to the retailers by the operators. Till last July, the total number of subscribers of 6 mobile phone operators in Bangladesh is 12 crore 87 lakh.
