India's Central Department of Electronics and Information Technology has proposed a new policy to basically monitor private messages of citizens.
The proposed new policy includes government surveillance of private messages, allowing the government to read WhatsApp, Hang Out, Snap Chat, e-mails and iMessages. No message can be deleted for 90 days. If you want again, you have to let the security agency read the message. If the message is deleted before the specified time, legal action will be taken. Maybe even jail.
Opinions of all citizens have been sought on this new policy. Citizens should give their opinion by 16 October 2015. But such a policy has sparked massive debate. What happens in the end remains to be seen.
