The Dhaka Times Desk Strong earthquakes occur every year somewhere in the world. These earthquakes have shocked the world. This report is about some of the strongest earthquakes.

The latest earthquakes occurred in Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. A 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck. This earthquake was also felt mildly in Bangladesh. The origin of this earthquake was in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.

Due to which Afghanistan and neighboring countries, especially in Pakistan, caused massive damage and loss of life. At least 300 have been killed in these two countries so far.

Nepal

25 April 2015: A 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal kills at least 8,900 people and damages 500,000 homes. In May of the same year, a 7.3 magnitude earthquake also killed many people. On August 20, 1988, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake in Nepal killed 721 people.

Iran

August 11, 2012: At least 306 people were killed and more than 3,000 were injured in a pair of earthquakes measuring 6.3 and 6.4 in the city of Tabriz, Iran. On December 26, 2003, a magnitude 6.7 earthquake in Iran's left city killed at least 31,884 people and injured at least 18,000 people.

Türkiye

October 23, 2011: A 7.2-magnitude earthquake in eastern Turkey kills more than 600 people and injures more than 4,000.

Haiti

January 12, 2010: On this day, a magnitude 7 earthquake in Haiti killed two and a half to three million people.

China

April 14, 2010: 3 thousand people were killed and many people went missing in a 6.9 magnitude earthquake in China's Qinghai Province. On May 12, 2008, more than 87,000 people were killed and missing in an 8-magnitude earthquake in China's Sichuan Province.

Indonesia

May 27, 2006: A powerful earthquake in Indonesia killed more than 6,000 people, left 1.5 million homeless, and injured many. On March 28, 2005, another powerful earthquake in Sumatra, Indonesia killed 900 people. On December 26, 2004, a powerful earthquake and resulting tsunami killed 220,000 people in areas near the Indian Ocean, including Indonesia.

On September 30, 1993, an earthquake of magnitude 6.3 killed 7,601 people in Maharashtra, India. On October 20, 1991, a magnitude 6.6 earthquake in Uttar Pradesh, India killed 768 people and destroyed many houses.
