Putin's warning: Turkey will have to pay many times

The Dhaka Times Desk Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that Turkey would have to pay many times for this mistake.

According to media reports, Russian President Vladimir Putin has threatened to impose more sanctions against Ankara. He called Turkey's downing of a Russian warplane on the Syrian border a 'war crime' and threatened Turkey as punishment.

In his annual State of the Nation address at the Kremlin, Putin said, 'Russia will never forget the incident of November 24. The incident will always be regarded as high treason.' However, Putin also said that Russia has no plans to threaten Turkey with military force.

Putin added, "If anyone thought that they could get away with such a terrible war crime that they would be able to get away with just a few measures to cut off food supplies, block construction and other sectors, they would be very mistaken."

It should be noted that the Turkish armed forces shot down a Russian-made Su-24 fighter jet in the border area last month on the charge of airspace violation. Russia has already imposed some sanctions on Turkey in response to the incident, denying the airspace violation. Turkish food imports have also been stopped.
