Facebook may be banned for those under 16!

At present, anyone who is 13 years old can open an account on any other communication site including Facebook and open his account with any information about himself. It is also approved by the US and European governments. However, the Special Committee on Civil Liberties and Home Affairs of the European Parliament is seriously considering raising the previous age limit, according to the news media BBC.

In Europe, children under 16 may be banned from accessing Facebook, Snapchat or any other social media site on the Internet without parental consent. A law on this matter is likely to be passed in the European Parliament this week.

The committee has proposed an amendment to the laws in Europe to protect data privacy. The amendment states that 'the processing of personal data of minors under the age of 16 without parental consent shall be deemed unlawful.'

A formal debate has begun in the European Parliament on this proposal. After the debate, the vote will be held on Thursday. If this proposal is passed, it will become law. However, various Internet-based social media organizations have already questioned the validity of this initiative by the European Parliament.

Experts who work on online safety have warned that 'raising the age of voluntary consent could only increase the threat to children.'

In a letter written to the parliamentary committee, some experts said that 'tightening the age limit will deprive children of educational and social opportunities in many ways. Instead of that, their security will not increase, but will decrease.
They also said that the tendency of children to lie about their age will also increase.'
