One of the species of birds that existed in this country in the past is the pink duck. This bird is now extinct from the world. At least 29 more such species of birds existed in Bangladesh in the past, but are no longer present. These birds still survive in other countries of the world. A total of 30 species of extinct birds of Bangladesh are mentioned in Bangladesh Flora and Fauna Encyclopedia but not listed. The remaining 626 species of birds have recently been seen in the country at various times.
