The Dhaka Times Desk Legendary 60s actress Mala Sinha has rejected India's Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Mala also said that he felt very humiliated because his name was nowhere in the invitation letter. He said, “I will not accept this award. They treated me rudely and insulted me. They need to be taught how to treat an artist?”

“They have done gross injustice to me. They didn't even mention my name on the invitation! When the chairman of the Phalke Committee came to my house and told me that I had been nominated for an award for my contribution to Indian cinema, I was happy. But I couldn't believe my eyes when I got the invitation. My name was not next to the names of others nominated for the award!”
"They came to give me the invitation without writing my name next to Asha Bhosle, it would have been better if they had slapped me on the cheek."
“The matter has shocked me beyond measure. What could be more humiliating for an artist! I can't express how much this upset me. I admit that Asha Bhosle is a very talented artist, but am I so unsophisticated? I don't need their recognition." Mala Sinha said.
It is to be noted that the Dadasaheb Phal Award is given annually by the Government of India to distinguished film personalities in recognition of their significant contribution to Hindi cinema. Veteran actress Mala Sinha of 'Dhul Ka Phool' fame was nominated for one of the most prestigious awards in the Hindi film industry this year. But the 76-year-old actress rejected the award after being saddened by the behavior of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award Committee.
Mala Sinha was born in Nepal in 1936. This actress ruled Bollywood from 50s to 70s. Apart from Hindi films, he also acted in Bengali and Nepali films. This talented artist has acted in hundreds of films including 'Piasa', 'Dhul Ka Phool', 'Dil Tera Deewana', 'Gumrah', 'Ankhe', 'Shaharer Itikatha', 'Lukochuri'.
Mala Sinha also said, “In the 60s, I got two offers from Hollywood. I turned them away saying that their films don't go with my culture. But today I would have thought more if I had known that I would be humiliated in my own house."
