Every year in the world 5.5 million people die of air pollution! This information has been revealed in a new study conducted by the 'Global Burden of Disease Project'.

According to the survey, the death rate of air pollution is much higher than malnutrition, obesity, alcohol and drug use and even unsafe sex in the world. Most of these deaths occur in emerging economies such as China and India. The ROI report also said that air pollution is caused by factories, power plants, vehicle exhaust, coal and wood burning in both countries.

The study also shows that 55% of the people who die due to air pollution in the world are residents of India and China. Air pollution killed 1.6 million people in China and 1.4 million people in India in 2013.

Professor Michael Mobrauer of the University of British Columbia in Canada said, "Air pollution is the fourth leading cause of environmental deaths in the world."
