The Dhaka Times Desk Saudi Arabia is taking care of 1,000 orphans who lost their parents in Iraq. Those children were left destitute by the attacks of the Islamic State in Kurdistan, Iraq.
Saudi Ambassador to Iraq, Thamer Al Sabhar, reported this news. At a time when people from Iraq and Syria are starting to migrate to Europe due to civil war, rich countries in the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia, have been criticized for not coming to their aid.
Saudi Ambassador Al Sabhar said that King Salman himself is going to take responsibility for those orphaned children. The Saudi king agreed to take this step mainly with the aim of humanitarian aid to war-torn Iraq.
Al Sabhar also said, 'Our Iraqi brothers are facing a harsh and difficult situation due to attacks by terrorist groups. Our humanitarian assistance to Iraqi children will continue.' However, no details have been given about how Saudi Arabia will help those children.
It should be noted that previously the Saudi government promised to provide 500 million US dollars in aid to Iraq under the supervision of the United Nations.
