The Dhaka Times Desk Former President Fidel Castro has expressed strong views on US President Barack Obama's visit to Cuba. Fidel Castro Says Don't Forget Obama's Sweet Words
Former Cuban President Fidel Castro warned the people of his country in response to the speech of US President Barack Obama who visited Cuba recently. He made it clear that we do not want any gift from America. After almost 9 decades, a US president set foot in Cuba last week. In that 3-day visit, however, Obama did not meet Cuba's senior leader Fidel Castro significantly. Obama never mentioned Fidel Castro's name in any of his speeches. Barack Obama faced Fidel's brother and current president Raul Castro. Although there was no response at that time, Fidel Castro expressed his opinion in a 1500-word letter to Obama in the Communist Party's daily Granma. In that letter addressed to Brother Obama, Castro used the words "Chocha Chocha" to explain that he is not at all willing to forget Washington's sweet words.
Obama said on a stage when he went to Cuba, Havana is only 90 kilometers away from Florida. However, many hurdles have to be crossed to cross this road. Along with the barriers of history and ideology, the barriers of pain and separation have to be overcome. He said, now he wants to forget all that and extend the hand of friendship to the Cuban people. But is it possible to forget past pain so easily in one word, Castro raised the question.
Showing the long history of America's aggression on Cuba in the letter, he wrote, hearing all this from the mouth of the US President, we are in danger of having a heart attack! One of Castro's words, Cuba has progressed without American help for 9 decades. So now they don't need any gift. Castro is also angry that Obama's speech did not mention how ordinary people had to die in Cuba or America.
Note that there was no mention of Cuba's progress in education and health in the US President's speech. Because of that, anger has arisen in the upper echelons of that country.
