Mobile charging on the computer is dangerous!

The Dhaka Times Desk When the mobile phone is out of charge, we are busy charging it. Then without thinking about anything, I connect the mobile phone to the computer for charging.

If we always think that charging mobile phone through USB port on computer is safe, then that idea will be wrong.

Security researchers claim that this common practice can leave you vulnerable to hacking at any time.

The researchers of Kaspersky Lab, the world's leading antivirus software manufacturer, said that when an iPhone or Android mobile phone is connected to a computer, data is exchanged between the two devices.

This includes phone model, phone brand, phone type, serial number, firmware information, operating system information, file system and electronic chip identity.

After it is connected via USB cable, the amount of data exchange between the computer and mobile depends on the brand and model of the phone. But every phone shares some basic information like: model name, brand and serial number.

Maybe these facts seem innocent to you on the surface. But according to researchers, this information is enough for hackers. Through this information to break the security of the smartphone and take control of it. Hackers can use this information to install viruses or third-party applications, which is not unusual for smartphones to be transferred from computers to smartphones via USB cables.

Researchers have experimentally managed to stealthily install a root application on a smartphone using a computer and a micro USB cable. Which will be useful in taking control of the smartphone.

However, this is not the first time that this matter of data theft has been observed in the case of mobile connection with the computer. In 2013, a hacker group used this technique to steal data from mobile phones connected to computers as part of their campaign. Later, another hacker group also used this technique to load harmful malware on smartphones connected to computers.

In both these cases, hackers used special methods to capture the data exchanged between the two devices while charging the mobile with a USB cable on the computer.

In this case, by checking the identification information obtained from the connected device, hackers can know what type of mobile the user is using and later they can hack based on this information. So it is not safe to charge mobile on computer or laptop under any circumstances.
