Is it safe to switch off the TV, fridge, computer in case of lightning?

The Dhaka Times Desk We switch off TV, fridge or computer during power outage. And I think I'm safe. But what is it really?

The large amount of electricity generated from the potential difference between charged clouds or electrified clouds is what we know as electricity. This electricity rushes to earth at high speed. Due to which its collision with power lines is inevitable in most cases. And so this electricity can reach your TV, fridge or computer.

However, the electricity that comes down from the sky is not very durable. But in that short time, it is enough to play the circuit of TV, fridge or computer. At the speed at which this current drops, damage can easily be caused even if the switch is closed.

And therefore, during power outages, turn off the TV, refrigerator or computer switch, and also open the plug.
