Jamaat called strike again

The Dhaka Times Desk Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 14, Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh has once again called a morning-evening hartal across the country. They announced this in a press release issued at the end of the strike yesterday.

It was also informed in the statement that they will strike in protest against the arrest of Jamaat's senior Naib Amir AKM Yusuf. In a statement, Jamaat Acting Secretary General Rafiqul Islam Khan said that Jamaat's senior Naib Ameer was arrested on Sunday following the arrest of Jamaat leaders one after another with the aim of wiping out Jamaat.
We are announcing the morning-evening nationwide strike on Tuesday, May 14 to demand his immediate release.

In addition, the statement called on the citizens of Dhaka to strengthen the government's resignation movement by making the 18-party coalition meeting in Nayapaltan on Monday afternoon a complete success. Along with that, yesterday's hartal was successful and thanked the countrymen.

On the other hand, it is heard that with this hartal of Jamaat, the 18-party alliance led by BNP may join a two-day hartal next Wednesday and Thursday.

It is to be noted that Amir AKM Yusuf, Naib of Jamaat, has been arrested on charges of crimes against humanity committed during the Great War of Liberation in 1971. A team of RAB arrested him from his house number 37/A on 10/A Road of Dhanmondi in the capital on Sunday afternoon. Yesterday War Crimes Tribunal-1 ordered him to be sent to jail, today Monday will hear his bail application.
