The Dhaka Times Desk Although only 18 months old, a child weighs 22 kg! Due to excess weight, he has to suffer a lot in walking and sitting.
The child is Sreejit Hingankar, a resident of Pune, India. Rupali, the child's mother, said that Sreejith's birth weight was two and a half kg. At the age of 6 months, his weight stood at 4 kg. When he was 10 months old, his weight was 17 kg. This is how his weight was increasing.
According to media reports, his parents did not notice any abnormality in this matter at first as there were no other symptoms except excessive eating. There was only one problem, he couldn't even sit up by himself even after turning 1 year old due to his weight not matching his age. Worried parents took Srijit to the doctor later.
After the tests, the doctors said that a type of hormone called leptin is responsible for Srijit's hunger. Srijit is naturally suffering from a rare disease related to this hormone. His body lacks this leptin hormone. His treatment is not available in India.
Doctors say, under the influence of leptin, one can understand whether his stomach is full or not. When the stomach is full, this hormone signals the brain to stop eating.
Sreejith's lack of this hormone in his body makes him completely unable to stop eating. That's why he always eats. That's why this child is gaining weight by leaps and bounds for eating too much!
