The Dhaka Times Desk Android phones are currently the most used smartphone operating systems. But news has come out that hundreds of millions of phones can be hacked at any moment due to QuadRouter issues.
According to media reports, smartphone security researchers have recently drawn attention to an imminent threat to the Android operating system. This operating system has four in-built bugs which are collectively called 'quadrouters'. Around 90 crore smartphones are plagued by the 'quadrouter' bug. It is better to say 'weakness' or weak point rather than error. Hackers can take advantage of this weakness at any time!
According to Check Point, an Android phone security research firm, every Android phone with a built-in Qualcomm chipset is affected by the problem. The company's statement is that there is a risk of hacking around 900 million Android phones in the world right now. The company believes that any of the four vulnerabilities mentioned in the QuadRouter could allow hackers to gain 'root access' to the device.
And once the root access is gained, all the pictures, emails, messages of the phone will be in the hands of the hackers. It is known that hackers can also take the help of various malicious apps to hack phones through QuadRouter. The characteristic of these 'malicious apps' is that they do not ask for any permission while downloading. Entered directly into the smartphone.
According to the news, the popular Android phones that are suffering from this QuadRouter problem are:
Blackberry Priv
Google Nexus 5X
Nexus 6P
HTC 10
LG G5
Moto X
OnePlus 3
Samsung Galaxy S7.
Blackphone 1 and Blackphone 2, the claimants of the world's most secure Android phones, are not free from this danger, says 'Check Point'.
In this context, Qualcomm informed that they have already started rolling out the patch for this 'bug'. According to the company, users should get the latest Android update to save their phone from hacking. Also, any app install request should actually be checked to see if it's OK to accept it. Qualcomm also recommends avoiding sideloading Android apps.
Moreover, this organization considers it important to check the permission request during app installation.
