No more filling out the arrival card at the airport!

The Dhaka Times Desk Earlier, returning from abroad had to go through the trouble of filling the arrival card at the airport. But from now on the airport no longer have to fill out the arrival card!

This arrival card is abbreviated as 'ED' (Embarkation-Disembarkation) card. The implementation of this decision has already started. Bangladeshi citizens returning from abroad do not have to fill this arrival card.

Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Immigration Department ASP Md. Mukit Hasan told the media that many times when several planes land at the same time, there is a kind of pressure on the immigration department, at that time the line of passengers also gets long. At that time, passengers consider filling the arrival card as a kind of ordeal.

He also said, 'The senior officials of the concerned departments including the DIG of the Immigration Department have taken this decision after meeting with the airlines. Moreover, third party business was opened within the airport by filling this card or form.

He said passengers will be relieved as arrival card filling will be stopped. Moreover, we also do not want an old method of writing by hand to remain.'

ASP Mukit Hasan also said that many things at the airport have now become digital. All information including names of passengers is stored only when they leave the country. So when they return to the country, the authorities do not want to give that trouble to the passengers again.

He said, 'Actually, the passengers are currently getting a lot of relief. Especially now for the returning Hajj pilgrims, it will take relatively less time to clear the immigration. When returning from Hajj, handling your luggage, passport and filling the arrival card again becomes quite a hassle. With this system in place, that will no longer be the case.'
