The Dhaka Times Desk Islamophobic messages were posted and written on Twitter around the world last July. The BBC said this after analyzing messages on Twitter.
The BBC found that around 7,000 anti-Islamic Twitter messages were posted in the English language around the world in July. However, this number will be much higher compared to other languages.
Just two months before this, in April, the number of such (anti-Islamic) posts on Twitter was around 2500. Islamophobic posts have spiked since the lorry attack in Nice, France, and the attempted military coup in Turkey.
According to the report, most of the anti-Islamic posts on Twitter came from the United Kingdom. Then successively more posts came from the Netherlands, France and Germany respectively. The most anti-Islamic posts on Twitter came on the day that a lorry drove into a crowd in Nice, France. Its number was more than 21 thousand! The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack.
The second highest number of tweets came just days after Turkey's attempted military coup. Its number was about 11 thousand! UK-based researcher Karl Miller mentions this trend as worrying.
Carl Miller said, 'These types of posts on Twitter are worrying because they are not expressing anger towards the Islamic State. Overall it seems that anger is being expressed towards Muslims!'
Ruqaiya Haris, a student from London, is quite active on Twitter. He said, "When there is an incident like the attack in the city of Nice, he receives a lot of messages or messages on Twitter that are written mainly condemning Islam."
Ruqaiya Haris said, 'What I write on Twitter is not a big deal. Many of them sent Twitter messages condemning Islam and insulting me. Even my hijab is insulted many times.'
However, when asked for comments on these anti-Islam posts on Twitter, no response has been received from the organization so far, according to the published news.
