For example, former caretaker government's chief advisor and former chief justice Muhammad Habibur Rahman is delivering his ministry at the gathering. If the politicians can understand these statements, it will definitely bring good for the country.
Muhammad Habibur Rahman, the former chief advisor of the caretaker government and the former chief justice, said that in a democracy there are differences, but there is also a solution. We have to solve our own problems. It is not right to wait for someone from outside to do it. I want a 'Made in Bangladesh' solution. He said this in response to a question regarding the current political crisis in the country at an international seminar on cooperation between the European Union and SAARC at Sirdap Auditorium on March 5.
Justice Habibur Rahman commented that he is not disappointed in the current political crisis of the country. He said that since the situation of the country is fragile, it is not possible to remain silent, it is not possible to run away. In a democracy there will be dissent. But compromise is not possible if there is no exchange of views. We have to find a way to solve the political crisis. When asked whether he has any recommendations for the country's current political crisis, he said, "I have nothing to say, no learning, no recommendations." Many have expressed the opinion that the crisis will be resolved if the two leaders sit at the same table, when asked about this, he said, "I do not think so." In the seminar, he also said that to increase cooperation in South Asia, we need to look at the mind set, which can be useful in our cooperation. He said that world poet Rabindranath Tagore and rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam used to talk about human rights in this region. But we continue to suffer from regional communal conflicts. He said that through the Schengen visa, the inter-cooperation of the European Union has increased. But that kind of free visa is not prevalent in this region. But SAARC can play a role in that. The European Union also has a role as an observer in the development of SAARC. He said the EU is doing good work for minorities and indigenous peoples. This is what we are trying to do.
Justice Habibur Rahman was the chief guest at the opening ceremony of this day-long international conference organized by South Asia Youth for Peace and Prosperity Society.
