According to a report, an American woman eats an average of 120.2 kilograms of meat every year. On the other hand, meat is consumed the least in Bangladesh. An average Bangladeshi eats or gets to eat only 4 kg of meat per year. Neighboring Indians also eat more meat than this (4.4 kg).
Recently, a report by the British newspaper The Telegraph mentioned the top 10 countries in terms of meat consumption. Similarly, the report also mentions the 10 countries with the lowest meat consumption.
This list is based on a report made by the World Food Organization till 2009. Meat here means the flesh of any animal.
According to the list, the top meat consuming country is the USA followed by the very small country of the Middle East, Kuwait. Where the meat consumption rate is 119.2 kg per capita every year. Other countries in the top 10 in order are:
Australia (111.5 kg)
Bahamas (109.5 kg)
Luxembourg (107.9 kg)
New Zealand (106.4 kg)
Austria (102 kg)
French Polynesia (101.9 kg)
Bermuda (101.7 kg)
Argentina (98.3 kg).
On the other hand, India is ahead of Bangladesh among the lowest meat consumption countries. The rate of meat consumption in the country is 4.4 kg per capita every year. Other countries in order are:
Burundi (5.2 kg)
Sri Lanka (6.3 kg)
Rwanda (6.5 kg)
Sierra Leone (7.3 kg)
Eritrea (7.7 kg)
Mozambique (7.8 kg)
Gambia (8.1 kg)
