There are generally three ways of holding a planet.
1. Holding the gem in the voice as a Tavizh-Kabach-Maduli.
2. Amulet-Kabach-Maduli made and held in arm.
3. Place the gem in the ring and hold it on the finger.
However, according to Jyotish Shastra, any gem can be purchased from the market and put on a ring and held on any finger. Just as there are classifications of gems, there are also guidelines for which gems should be set in which metal. Above all are the clear instructions of astrologers regarding the wearing of gems. The ancient astrologers clearly showed in their Samhitas that the fingers of the hand are somehow associated with some part of the body. Basically one finger controls one area of the brain. That's why a lot of hormone secretion depends on the finger.
While wearing rings on the ring finger, middle finger, index finger, and even the little finger is prescribed, the wearing of rings on the thumb or the thumb is strictly prohibited by the astrological codes.
There is an important reason behind this ban. According to the ancient scriptures, it was believed that the part of the brain with the big toe, where the lanadena is, releases the hormones of happiness. And this finger is associated with the planet Mercury. Mercury or Venus mainly rules love affairs. And so any metallic touch on this finger can disrupt the secretion of this particular hormone. Happiness can arise from life. And that is why wearing rings or any other ornaments on the thumb is prohibited. So we have never seen anyone wear a ring on their thumb.
