সংবাদ মাধ্যমের খবরে জানা যায়, হবিগঞ্জ জেলার নবীগঞ্জ উপজেলার ৪শ’ বছরের পুরোনো একটি রহস্যময় তেঁতুলগাছ নিয়ে শুরু হয়েছে নানা রসাত্মক গল্প। এই তেঁতুল গাছের কাহিনী অনেকটা রূপকথার গল্পের মতোই!

The tamarind of this tree, planted by Tagore's hand, gets rid of complex diseases, and even poor couples get cheap. And so every day hundreds of visitors come to worship under this tamarind tree. On the other hand, Muslim men and women also came to fulfill their desires and appeared with Shirni!

বিশাল এই তেঁতুল গাছের নিচে রয়েছে শিববানী ঠাকুরের একটি মন্দির, একটি নাট মন্দির এবং সেইসঙ্গে রয়েছে যাত্রী নিবাস বসতঘর। নবীগঞ্জ উপজেলা সদর হতে প্রায় ১০ কিলোমিটার অদুরে গজনাইপুর ইউনিয়নের শতক গ্রামের শিববানী ঠাকুরের বাড়ীতে রয়েছে ৪শ’ বছরের পুরনো এই তেঁতুল গাছ। রহস্যময় এই তেঁতুল গাছটি দেখতে অনেকে যান ঠাকুর বানীর বাড়িতে। আবার মানতও করে থাকেন অনেকেই। এই গাছটি নিয়ে এলাকায় নানা প্রবাদও রয়েছে।

It is known that this huge old tamarind tree is spread over about 10 khata of land. One of the roots of the tree is about 30/40 feet long and scattered around. The tree is about 15 feet wide with a height of 40/50 feet and the branches are scattered with 60/70 feet.

The local people said that the tamarind of the tamarind tree is supposed to be sour, the tamarind of this tamarind tree is not sour at all, it is very tasty and delicious. Once you play it, you want to eat it again and again. Many people's desires have been fulfilled by eating this bitter gourd. Every year, 15/20 mana tetulun comes from that tree. These are distributed among devotees. The tamarind tree has grown in size every day and has now reached a huge size. According to Hindus, Shiva Tagore visits the teal tree every Swarasati and Durga Puja. So in those two pujas, Hindus stay awake all night chanting.

It is said that if someone goes near the tree with the intention of cutting it, the nose and mouth will bleed and die. This tamarind tree has been sold several times in the past. But no one dared to cut down this mysterious tamarind tree.
