Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza took a review asking the umpire's decision to be reconsidered. Just as the third umpire was giving the review decision, the Bangladeshi players received a signal from the dressing room that it was out. Looking at the butler, they also started celebrating. The English captain did not like that. Butler also reacted strongly.

Less than 24 hours later, match referee Javagal Srinath, on-field umpires Aleem Dar and Sharfudullah Ibn Saikat, announced punishments against the accused players. Mashrafe and Sabbir Rahman were fined twenty percent of the match fee for violating Article 2 of the Code of Conduct. They were charged with using indecent language and aggressive behavior. They felt that the match referee's allegation that the Bangladeshi cricketers had gone overboard to celebrate the success had also led Buttler to behave inappropriately, according to the ICC.
