Many people choose the path of suicide very naturally. That's why there are often nets laid outside the high-rise offices, so that if someone jumps down from the roof, his life will be saved. Not only the office buildings, but also the Nanking Yangtze Bridge on the Yangtze River has witnessed many suicides.

This bridge is not present today, it was built in 1968. Until 2006, about 2000 people have jumped into the river water from this bridge to commit suicide. However, Chen Si, a resident of China, is constantly trying to prevent this number from increasing in the future. He goes to this bridge once every week when he gets leave. Then his work begins there!

He saves the lives of those who come here to commit suicide. He returned him from the door of death to the path of life. He has been spending his weekends doing this for the past 13 years. He has saved more than 300 lives so far. Every time he sees someone about to jump, he immediately backs away and grabs him!

Even after saving lives, Chen often had to arrange their stay. Because statistics say that most of those who have gone to this bridge to commit suicide are from the lower class. They suffer from depression with a life of deprivation. Chen tries to get those people back to normal life by removing the frustration caused by lack of life.

In an interview given to the international press, Chen said that he himself once suffered from depression about his profession. He was disappointed with life most of the time. At that time a kind hearted person helped him. Encouraged by him, Chen turned around. Later started a business and later got married. He currently has a daughter.

In Chen's words, 'There are times when we are alone, when life seems miserable. At those times only a little encouragement from others is needed.''Chen attends this bridge 20 kilometers from home every Saturday and Sunday. Stay there from 8 am to 5 pm.
Inspired by him, students from a nearby university's psychology department recently came here to accompany Chen. Those students who Chen helps, take responsibility for counseling them. This initiative of his has set a new precedent in the history of the world. A truly great initiative no doubt.
