The Dhaka Times Desk A young Saudi woman has been arrested by the country's police for posting a picture of herself without a veil on the social media platform Twitter.

This incident was reported on Monday by the police of Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Riyadh Police Spokesman Fawaz Al Maimen refused to reveal the name of the arrested young woman, but Saudi media reported that her name was Malek Al Shehri.
Police spokesperson Maimen said in a statement that the woman was arrested on the charge of "disrespecting the general principles" of Saudi Arabia.
He said that the accused young woman took a picture standing in front of a busy and well-known cafe in Riyadh without covering her head and posted it on Twitter. Islam never approves such clothing.
Note that there are strict restrictions on the movement of Muslim women in oil-rich Saudi Arabia. Women are not even allowed to drive there. Although in the world context, recently Saudi Arabia is showing a very flexible attitude towards women.
