Ashok Pawar, a resident of Marathwada, a remote village in Maharashtra, India, has started walking a novel path to stop female foeticide. If the father of a daughter is giving her a free hair-shaving opportunity in the salon! Ashok Pawar's statement is, 'Save the daughter'.

Ashok Pawar has so far provided free services to fathers of 15 girls. He said, "Many people say that it costs a lot if a girl is born. So I tried to reduce at least one cost of the girl's parents. At least they love the little girl this time!''

Ashok's statement is, 'I wanted to have a daughter from the beginning. Then comes Shravani. I was very happy. He is very 'lucky' for me. For 6 years I worked in a tailor shop. I opened my own shop after Shrabani came. But I felt bad seeing the surrounding situation. Those who worship girls, they want to kill the female fetus in the darkness of the womb! So I wanted to make an effort in my own way to honor the girl's fathers.'

Ashoka's small salon is called Manisha. From the first day of this year, he has started cutting the hair and beards of fathers of girls for free in that salon. Fathers of new daughters can get a free haircut at her salon.

Ashok also said that Manisha's hair and beard cost 50 rupees. But if a girl child is born in a family, then the fathers of those girls will not need any money to cut their hair and beard in 'Manisha'. This facility will be available once till the age of six months of the girl child. A really nice idea. Such an initiative is to set an example that daughters are human too. We applaud such initiative.
