The Dhaka Times Desk The first edition of the Roll Ball World Cup was held in Pune, India in 2011. This time the Roll Ball World Cup is being held in Dhaka.
After the introduction of this game called roll ball in India, the game has gradually spread a lot. Following this, two more World Cups were organized in Kenya in 2013 and in India in 2015.
The fourth World Cup is going to be held in Bangladesh. The event starts tomorrow (Friday) at the newly constructed Sheikh Russell Roller Skating Complex. It will end on February 23. 39 countries of the world will participate in this event. Earlier no tournament was organized in Bangladesh with the participation of so many countries.
19 countries from Asia, 11 from Africa, seven from Europe and two from South America will participate in this event. 39 countries will play in the men's team and 29 countries in the women's team.
Basically, it is expected that new horizons will be opened in the sports arena through this event. Abul Kalam Azad, President of Roller Skating Federation and Prime Minister's Chief Coordinator for SDGs, said about this, 'We hope that this World Cup will make Bangladesh's image brighter around the world. Necessary initiatives will be taken to popularize this game across the country.
Venues will be Sheikh Russell Roller Skating Complex in Paltan, Handball Stadium and Mirpur Indoor Stadium.
