The story of a floating school

The Dhaka Times Desk The scene may suddenly look like a small island. There is a wide expanse of water all around and green grassy pastures in between. Today there is a floating school story!

A house surrounded by tin stands tall in one such island. And that is a floating school. Where small children are studying.

In many cases, such houses are mainly built to enjoy the natural beauty. However, a school is built in such an environment.

Poor children of the area study in this floating school. Education is provided here without any cost. Surrounded by such extraordinary natural beauty, the floating school is located in Phumidis area of Manipuri state, India.

ওই রাজ্যের ফুমিডিস এলাকাটি বন্যার পানিতে প্লাবিত হয়ে থাকে বছরের বেশিরভাগ সময়। সে কারণে কয়েক’শ পরিবার ভিটেমাটি হারিয়েছে। তাদের সন্তানদের জন্যই মূলত তৈরি করা হয়েছে এই ভাসমান স্কুলটি।

Most of the people in the area are fishermen by profession. But they have to face a lot of problems due to floods. Due to which it becomes almost impossible for them to send their boys and girls to school In such a situation, young children have to fall into the role of workers. Therefore, the family responsibility falls on the young children. Two NGOs are showing their way of light. This school was built with the efforts of the local fishermen's union.

It is known that currently the number of students in this floating school is 25. Despite the age difference, they all take classes together. At present this school is primary but soon it will be upgraded to class VIII according to the school authorities. Those concerned think that the light will spread among the children through this school.
