Farooqui-Irrfan's 'Dub' Banned

Bangladesh Film Censor Board has banned Mustafa Sarayar Faruqi's film 'Dub' (No Bed of Roses). This information was reported in a report of US-based newspaper Variety last Friday. About why the film was banned, BFDC Managing Director Tapan Kumar Ghosh said, "It is not the matter of BFDC, the Bangladesh Film Censor Board supervises the matter."

Farooqui said that the film was stopped at the first step. However, the exact reason for this has not yet been explained. I am aware that the content of my photo has not violated any censorship norms. I think it is actually interference on freedom of speech. In this regard, Irrfan Khan, the lead actor and co-producer of the film, told the media, "I am really surprised that the film has been banned. It is mainly based on the complex relationship between a woman and a man and a human subject. It can harm the society? I don't understand it.

It is known that actress Meher Afroz Shaon wrote a letter to the Censor Board on February 13. She expressed apprehension that the film 'Dubb' is based on the biography of her late husband, novelist Humayun Ahmed. Because, last year some artists of this film gave such information to some media in India and Bangladesh.
