The Dhaka Times Desk BASIS president Mustafa Jabbar said in a round table meeting titled 'Solving social problems and improving quality of life through information technology' organized at Bracathon-2 in the capital, the young population should be developed as skilled programmers.
"We need a large number of programmers who can develop and code software," said Basis President Mustafa Jabbar. Programmers are in great demand not only in the country but also in the global market. We need to prepare our young population to embrace this extraordinary and unique opportunity. We can make information technology services work with a large number of general education educated youth.
Mostafa Jabbar also said that many people have a misconception that software is only about coding. But this coding is actually only a part of the field in software development. Developing a software involves understanding the problem, finding its solution, creating the user interface, creating manuals or documentation, providing support etc. But to do these things, our programmers need to be proficient in all subjects including coding. Those who do not know coding can also play a major role in software development.
The BASIS president gave this speech at the round table meeting on 'Solving social problems and improving quality of life through information technology' at the BRACathon-2 organized at the BRAC Center in the capital on Monday.
BRAC's Advocacy for Social Change ICT and Partnership Strengthening Unit Director KAM Morshed, Plan International Bangladesh Fund Operations Director Debashish Saha, BRAC University's James Pree Grant School of Public Health Dean and Professor Sabina Faiz Rashid and others were present on the occasion.
