Salman F Rahman, the head of Beximco Group, became active in politics in addition to business expansion in the 90s. Salman F. Rahman is currently serving as the adviser on private sector development to Awami League President Sheikh Hasina.
The list of Hurun Global released last Tuesday includes the top richest people in 68 countries. The top three in that list are from the United States. Microsoft chief Bill Gates also topped the list as the world's richest man this year. The list mentions that his assets amount to 8 thousand 1 billion dollars.
The current US President Donald Trump is also on that list. Donald Trump's position is at number 395. Trump's net worth is reported to be $4.5 billion.
According to media reports, the United Arab Emirates has been ranked among the top 20 richest countries in the Hurun Global Rich List 2017. Their position is 19. Last year, there were 16 billionaires from the United Arab Emirates in this list. This time it has increased to 21. No other GCC country made it to the top 20.
It is reported that 11 Indian billionaires have found their place this year. Last year, India was ranked third. However, in this year's list, India has fallen from that position to fourth place.
On the other hand, China tops the list with 609 billionaires. The United States, at number two, has 552 billionaires. This year India's 100 richest people are named in that list.
According to the website of the organization Hurun Global, two-thirds of the people on the list have become owners of enormous wealth through their own efforts. Another one-third of billionaires have acquired wealth primarily through family sources.

Salman F Rahman founded Bangladesh Export-Import Company Beximco in 1972. Founder Salman F Rahman is currently the Vice Chairman of Beximco Group.
