It is believed that the staunch anti-immigrant US President Donald Trump has instilled such fear in him.
Hawking expressed his fears in an interview with Good Morning Britain on Monday. His opinion is that under the leadership of President Trump, the United States is moving towards extreme right-wing and dictatorship. Therein lies his fear. He said, 'I want to go back to the United States and talk to other scientists. But I fear that I may not be welcomed as before.' However, Hawking received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from former US President Barack Obama. This physicist has also received the prestigious Franklin Medal of the United States.
Hawking, a 75-year-old researcher at Cambridge University, is also concerned about Trump's environmental stance. Trump considers the environmentalists' fears and activities to be a hoax! Pointing to that, Stephen Hawking said, 'Climate change is one of the most dangerous threats we face. But it is possible for us to prevent it. The impact of climate change is greatest on America. So if he can deal with the problem, he might win the second term.' He commented that anti-environmentalist Scott Pruitt should be removed as head of the Environmental Protection Agency.
The Guardian wrote, Stephen Hawking also said about Trump, 'People who feel disenfranchised by elite rulers who are disgusted with globalization, Trump was elected by their votes. Trump's priority is to satisfy voters who are neither liberal nor well-informed - at least that's what he seems to be doing.'
