The Dhaka Times Desk The country's Secret Service has asked for an additional $60 million (Tk 480 crore) for the travel and security of US President Donald Trump's family.
The Washington Post reported that $26.8 million of this additional money will be spent on the security of Trump's family and Trump's private home in Trump Tower in New York. The remaining $3.3 million will be spent on travel expenses for the US president, vice president and other government officials.
The report also said that the additional money was requested by the Secret Service, which is assigned to protect the President, for the fiscal year 2018 budget. The Secret Service's request for extra money is proof of the amount of money being poured into the security of President Trump's extended family, their ambitious travel schedule, and turning Trump's own residence into a safe fortress.
Since his inauguration as president, Trump has spent most of his weekends at his Mar-Elago resort in Palm Beach, Florida. On the other hand, Trump's sons are traveling the world with the intelligence of the Secret Service at state expense to improve their father's business. However, the exact amount of money being spent on the security and travel of President Donald Trump and his family remains unclear.
The Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) declined to divulge the actual amount, citing security concerns, according to media reports.
