The girl is estimated to be between 8 and 10 years old. Police were now searching for missing children around the area. The doctors examined her and said that the girl did not speak, just chirped like a monkey.
A few weeks ago, villagers first spotted the girl, completely naked, among a group of monkeys in the Katarniaghat reserve forest near the border with Nepal. He was malnourished and had several bruises on his body.
Suresh Yadav, an officer of the Uttar Pradesh Police, said that when they went to rescue the girl, she was still playing with a group of monkeys.
When the police go to fetch the girl, the monkeys try to snatch her away. The girl has been named Van Durga. He has been admitted to Lucknow Medical College for treatment.
