The Dhaka Times Desk The world's largest handwritten Quran has been unveiled. Egyptian artist Saad Mohammed published this handwritten version of Islam's holy book, the Qur'an.
According to Al Jazeera news, it is believed that this will be the world's largest handwritten version of the Koran if recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records.
The artist Saad, a resident of the northern part of Cairo, started his work quite early. At first he used to write and draw Islamic motifs on the walls and ceilings of the house.
He had no formal education in decoration. But his hands were quite seasoned. Everyone appreciated his work. This is how this artist once thought of publishing a handwritten Quran.
Once he got to work. This is how the whole 3 years passed. Every day the artist Saad began to slowly draw verses of the Koran on paper. He also drew special designs around the verses.
The sheet of paper exceeds 700 meters in length. He has carefully arranged the paper with Quranic verses inside the designed wooden box.
Saad, a talented artist, said, 'The papers with verses of the Qur'an are arranged in a large wooden box. It exceeds 700 meters in length. Which is going to be recognized as the largest handwritten Quran in the world.
Saad will have to pay the registration fee to seek recognition from the Guinness Book of Records. But this poor artist could not raise that money. He sought help from all levels of society including the government.
Note that the Guinness Book of World Records holds the record for the largest printed Quran. However, there is no world record for handwritten or painted Quran. Now, if this category is launched, there is no doubt that the world's largest handwritten Quran by Egyptian artist Saad will have the status.
