The Dhaka Times Desk The court has issued an arrest warrant to bring Tariq Rahman back to the country through Interpol in the corruption case. The judge of Dhaka No. 3 Special Judge Court gave this order on Sunday afternoon.
According to various media sources, lawyer Mosharraf Hossain Kajol on behalf of the ACC made this application in the Special Judge Court No. 3 of Dhaka. Acting Judge of Special Judge Court Number 3. Mozammel Haque took up the hearing on the application.
BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's eldest son Tarek Rahman is the fugitive accused in this case. An arrest warrant in English was issued against him and he was arrested through Interpol and brought to the court in this case to face trial. ACC lawyer Mosharof Hossain Kajal informed the reporters about this matter.
It is known that on May 9, the statement of the 10th witness of the case Sonali Bank Cantonment Corporate Branch Executive Officer Vibhuti Bhushan Sarkar was accepted. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed this case at the Cantonment Police Station on October 26, 2009.
It has been alleged that Ghiyasuddin Al Mamun took Tk 20 crore 41 lakh 25 thousand 843 from Khadija Islam, the owner of Nirman Construction Company Limited, for the construction of the proposed 80 MW power plant in Tongi. This money is traded in Singapore. Mamun then deposited the money at City Bank NA in Capital Street, Singapore as the bank in his name. It has been alleged in the case that Tariq Rahman spent Tk 3 crore 78 lakh out of this amount.
