The Dhaka Times Desk Despite the activism of international human rights, many cases of child abuse and suppression are happening repeatedly in different countries of the world. Recently, 22 children were rescued by the country's police force in Guatemala.
Most of the 22 children rescued in Guatemala are indigenous. A self-interested gang used to force these children to work in various shops. International media reported that they were mainly used to make corn bread.
Police spokesman Jorge Aguilar said eight people were arrested in multiple raids in Guatemala City. The police believe that they are involved with the gang.
The police officer also said that these children are brought to the city from remote areas with the promise of good jobs and accommodation. However, they are forced to work up to 18 hours a day in unsanitary conditions. Police found that they were given meager food and very low wages.
It should be noted that the indigenous people of Guatemala are very poor people. About 42 percent of the total population of the country are tribals. That is why human rights are being violated again and again by taking advantage of poverty.
